The global LoRaWAN® network server provider, LORIOT AG, and the competence center for RF development, IMST GmbH, announce they have finalized the tests and now offer full support to LoRa 2.4GHz frequency band offered by Semtech.
Kamp-Lintfort, DE, Zurich, CH, - 27.01.2022. - After integrating the new technology into their respective solutions and performing extensive interoperability tests, the Swiss company LORIOT and the German company IMST, both active globally, announce full support for the new ultra long range LoRa 2.4 GHz technology developed by Semtech. The support of LoRa 2.4GHz and its unique features pave the way for the deployment of new use cases in the global IoT market.
IMST iM282A-L module is the compact and low-cost radio module that operates in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz band and combines a powerful Cortex-M3 controller with the transceiver SX1280 from Semtech Corporation. Both the iM282A-L module and the new 2.4GHz gateway, soon available on the market, are supported on LORIOT Network Server Osprey allowing users to configure and deploy ultra long range networks all around the world.
“The 2.4GHz worldwide harmonized band enables new industrial business opportunities, while leveraging unique features inherent in LoRa physical layer including an extraordinary performance, robustness against interferences and low power consumption” said Heinz Syrzisko, head of the Wireless Solutions department. “With more than 30 years' experience within the development of wireless communication systems as well as having introduced the first module that contained LoRa in 2013, IMST GmbH has a solid base to face new challenges and continue extending the ecosystem.”
“The value of technological innovation is measured by its ability to solve real problems. Our main focus is on the needs of the market, which we gain insight into from a continuous dialogue with our customers and the companies that approach us. This is why we are pleased to offer our customers the possibility of using the 2.4GHz frequency band.
LoRa 2.4GHz with its unique characteristics will allow for solutions in new areas, responding to real needs and generating great value,” added Julian Studer, Founder & CEO at LORIOT
LoRa 2.4GHz offers ultra-long range communication in the globally available 2.4GHz frequency band with lowest power and highest reliability connectivity. In addition to inheriting LoRa core capabilities such as long range and deep penetration both outdoor and indoor, low power, high capacity and robustness to interferences, the new 2.4GHz band meets the needs of markets where single SKU, worldwide interoperability, high data rate, and no duty cycle limitations are required.
This lays the ground for new business opportunities and vertical solutions in different industries, including Asset Tracking and Logistics, Food and Medicines Supply Chain monitoring, Agriculture, Construction and Mining to name a few.
“Semtech is pleased to see a growing ecosystem and market adoption of LoRa 2.4GHz solution, as it complements LoRa sub-GHz in a wide range of use cases in logistic and industrial markets, where the versatility of working at 2.4GHz is a compelling requirements,” said Marc Pégulu, vice president of IoT product marketing and strategy for Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Products Group.
The new LoRa 2.4GHz is already available on LORIOT public and private infrastructure enabling innovative IoT solutions such as Danalto’s positioning intelligence solution for fine to long-range operations in Manufacturing, Mining, Construction and Logistic sites which ensures 2-5 meter location accuracy using Miromico’s 2.4GHz tags.
“Miromico is among the key hardware suppliers globally for sensors and gateways based on Semtech’s 2.4GHz chipsets. Our intelligent devices enable smart and digital logistics, mining and construction applications together with our connectivity and integration partners LORIOT and Danalto”, said Schekeb Fateh, CEO at Miromico. “The strategic partnership allows an aggressive growth of digitalization in a rather non-digital industry”.
