Junior DevOps Engineer
Valencia, Spain

We are on the quest to find a new team member for our office in Valencia or headquarters in Zurich,
who will take over some of key responsibilities developing and operating our global system infrastructure.

We, LORIOT, are a young Swiss company building the future of the Internet of Things.

Basic requirements rather standard

  • Engineering background
  • Systematic, analytical thinking
  • Microservices architecture, distributed systems
  • Load balancing, high availability (nginx, haproxy)
  • Linux knowledge (console, scripting, monitoring, profiling, debugging)
  • Security (PKI, TLS)
  • Sound understanding of web services (WebSockets, HTTP)
  • Sound knowledge of network protocols (IP, TCP, DNS, NTP)

Would be great or you'll need to learn

  • Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine, ...
  • Modern distributed databases (SQL, NoSQL, time-series)
  • Distributed messaging (MQTT, AMQP, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Monitoring and Big Data technologies
  • Agile development (JIRA)
  • Lean methodology (build - measure - learn)
  • Demonstrable success in developing and operating a high-availability infrastructure

Who should you be apart from exceptional

  • Holder of (at least) a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or have an equivalent (2+ years), demonstrable, relevant work experience
  • Spirited, energetic, easy-going person
  • Highly motivated continuous-learner
  • Interested in Internet of Things, gadgets, and technology in general
  • Fluent in English, any other languages are an asset and can be put to good use

We expect you to do your best

  • Take on responsibility for availability of LORIOT systems
  • Manage our global server infrastructure (web, DNS, applications, databases, load balancers)
  • Continuously improve our monitoring system, deployment processes, operations tools and underlying infrastructure
  • Professionally report to management
  • Participate in improving detailed technical and functional documentation
  • Play active role in the agile development team
  • Assess feasibility of projects and customer requirements
  • Work with software development team to assure optimal design of our services for production
