Head of Engineering

We are on the quest to find a Head of Engineering for our team in Valencia - Spain, who will take charge of leading our technical team and design new IoT solutions.

Basic Requirements

  • Team management with Agile development methods & tools (JIRA)
  • Git flows and best practices
  • Javascript / TypeScript
  • Microservice-based architectures
  • Distributed systems, scalability, high availability
  • Networking and Security protocols

Other Relevant Requirements

  • IoT standards and specifications
  • Real-time data processing
  • API design
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Message brokers (MQTT, AMQP)
  • NoSQL and time-series engines
  • Work in 100% Linux environment (desktop & server)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Holder of (at least) a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Young spirited, energetic, easy-going person
  • Interested in Internet of Things, gadgets, and technology in general
  • Fluent in English, any other languages are an asset and can be put to good use
  • Excited about working at a startup and on small, talented team

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Be deeply involved in the development of a global IoT network and SaaS infrastructure
  • Coordinate back-end team, front-end team and embedded software team during the implementation life-cycle
  • Plan our bi-weekly sprints according to the product team's requirements
  • Care deeply about code quality, performance and execution, but not be a dogmatic perfectionist
  • Be agile, adapt to business-driven changes in projects and products
  • Understand the aspects of maintainability, stability and compatibility
  • Make code reviews and be code reviewed
  • Choose technologies based on forward-looking, well-informed decisions
  • Participate in writing detailed technical and functional documentation
